Thanks to a most pleasant partnership with Baliprod, we were introduced to the crew behind the upcoming feature-length Indie film Nomad, as they stayed with us for three nights. The film’s working tag line is “A love story on 7 continents,” while their audacious plan is to film in 25 countries without artificial lights, green screens, or anything other than the occasional magnificent local setting. So far they’ve covered about 15 countries and have adhered to their plan.
Two trucks of gear follow them everywhere they go, and while it at first seemed a bit overwhelming, the crew made quick work of stashing the 30+ cases into our spacious loft rooms.
Key members of the crew spent a couple of days preparing for their next set of location shoots, and it was fascinating to discover just how complex it is to operate a film crew in an unknown setting. There’s not much glamour involved in the prep work, although none of the crew were complaining about their once in a lifetime opportunity to see the world (albeit in a highly condensed, film-centric way).
It was a great pleasure to be able to accommodate such a passionate group of young people. Wishing the Nomad crew great success!
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain
