The art of the unfinished

There’s an artistic side to an unfinished building.

As much as I want to finish this project and share this amazing location with a guest such as yourself, there is something to be said for taking a moment to appreciate the awesome achievements taking place each and every day.

One day a staircase starts, another a brick wall. Another day a custom-made door or window is installed. A seemingly mundane column or beam is wrestled into place in the tropical heat.

Sometimes it’s a passing moment: clothes from construction workers drying on a line in the empty, future pool. Red dust spread across the floor from brick that had to be reduced in size, in order to squeeze between the top layer of bricks and the support beam.

It’s all a wonder…
