Week #30 — staircases to heaven & a warung

Construction sometimes seems like a never-ending process. And here in Indonesia you never quite know which workers will show up on any given day. In essence it’s a bit of a mystery to figure out the logical progression of day-to-day tasks.

My builder does his best to help me understand the process but there is much unsaid, and you have to use a certain amount of faith that it will all come together and look amazing.

Week #29 — a lull in the action

The Balinese construction crew went back to their village for a major celebration called Galungan. The crew from Java continued to add brick walls and cover them with cement plaster. Slowly the building is looking more and more hospitable, but we have a ways to go.

Still it’s exciting to see progress, even if it is at a slower pace.
